M.A.C. Hermann Trophy Unveiled
Penn State’s Joanna Lohman (Silver Spring, Md.) is joined by the University of North Carolina’s Catherine Reddick (Birmingham, Ala.) and Lindsay Tarpley (Kalamazoo, Mich.) as the three finalists for the award. The trio will be invited to the Missouri Athletic Club on Friday, Jan. 9, for a news conference where the winner of the award will be revealed. A banquet at the Club that evening will feature the formal presentation of the prestigious crystal soccer ball trophy to the winner. A senior midfielder, Lohman was the NSCAA/adidas Scholar Athlete of the Year as a junior. This season, she led the Nittany Lions to a 19-3-3 record and the NCAA quarterfinals. A starter in all 25 matches, she scored 19 goals and had six assists for a total of 44 points. Reddick spent part of the collegiate season with the U.S. Women’s National Team, where she was a starting defender in the 2003 Women’s World Cup. A senior, she is a three-time All-ACC selection, she played 11 college matches this season, scoring six goals (including a pair of game-winners) and compiling 17 points. A sophomore, Tarpley led the Tar Heels in goals scored (21) and assists (25) to lead the ACC with 67 points. She earned ACC Player of the Year honors this season and led North Carolina through an undefeated season and a No. 1 ranking in the NSCAA/adidas national rankings throughout the season. The three finalists for the men’s M.A.C. Hermann Trophy will be announced on Friday afternoon, Dec. 12, prior to the semifinals of the Men’s College Cup in Columbus, Ohio. An exhibition featuring the current winners and past recipients of the M.A.C. Hermann Trophy is on display at the National Soccer Hall of Fame in Oneonta, N.Y. For More Information Contact: |
